Home Events & Celebrations ‘Heartbeat Week’ at The Tower School
A ‘Heartbeat Week’ was enjoyed with pupils experiencing Escape Rooms, Hertfordshire Zoo, visits to the seaside and picnics in Hyde Park – much fun was had by all. It has been such a pleasure hearing about how responsibly and independently our young people accessed the community, used new found money management skills and, most of importantly, had lots of fun!
Turret Trip to Hertfordshire Zoo– We spent a considerable amount with the dinosaurs; the students were particularly interested in the continent each dinosaur had lived in and what they used to eat. The students had snacks and took photos with the dinosaurs and their eggs before digging and discovering the bones, enjoying it all together. Each student demonstrated diverse interests at the zoo, excited to see their favourite animal. After lunch, students continued discovering the delights and spent some time enjoying the play area and the slides. Well done Turret for the positive interactions, the camaraderie and humour, and the support shown to your peers!
Spire’s Trip to Leigh-on-Sea– I would like to make a shout out this week to my form team, Spire. Thank you for making our trip to Leigh-on- Sea so memorable. Thank you to Captain Jake for guiding us to the sea, and crew member, Neo for navigating the journey on foot. It has been such a pleasure working alongside Spire this academic year – I am so proud to be able to say what an incredible team they are, and to share this with everyone, gives me great pleasure. You have all shown such amazing support, kindness and thoughtfulness – well done!
Pagoda’s Trip to Southend– Pagoda chose to go to Southend for their form trip, to visit the arcades and explore Southend. Pupils went on the water jet ski game and rollercoaster experience. Pupils said it was awesome, won lots of tickets on the monopoly game, enjoyed shooting targets with form tutor, Steve and enjoyed a cookie dough ice cream. Two pupils enjoyed exploring Southend independently, discovering the best place for a milkshake!
Citadel’s Trip to Madame Tussauds– Citadel students travelled into London to visit the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum; they enjoyed exploring the artistry of the wax figures, depicting lots of celebrities, musicians and characters from popular films. We then went on another adventure and jumped in the taxi to the ‘Spirit of London Ride’. After our visit to the museum, we took full advantage of the glorious sunshine and ate lunch in Regents Park before travelling back to school.
Obelisk’s Trip to Escape Room– Obelisk students had an outstanding trip on Wednesday, visiting the Escape Room in Harlow to tackle the ‘Carnevil’ Escape Room! The theme was Evil Clown Carnival, featuring numerous creepy clowns lurking in corners. Upon entering, we immediately set to work deciphering clues and combinations to advance to the next part of the room. After successfully progressing, we faced a series of carnival-themed games with a sinister twist. This round was straightforward, so we quickly moved on to the next room, where we had to solve a riddle and interpret tarot cards. Finally, we made it to the last section, completing the task with just one second to spare! Well done, Obelisk for working so collaboratively together. We then enjoyed a well-deserved lunch break at McDonald’s before heading back to school.
Lighthouse’s Trip to Hyde Park– This week Lighthouse travelled to Hyde Park! We journeyed on the underground and used the tube maps to find where we needed to change. We then enjoyed a picnic and the boys demonstrated their competitiveness playing chess against Chloe.
Martello’s Trip to Wildwood– Martello enjoyed a meal out to Wildwood to celebrate the end of an academic year, saying goodbye to a post 16 pupil and celebrating the conclusion of exam season. We enjoyed a feast of chicken burgers and chips, carbonara and spaghetti. As form tutor, it was a very proud moment to see the friendships that have formed. Thank you to the form for such a positive experience and a fond farewell to one of our post 16 pupil who has been at The Tower School from the beginning!
