Key Stage Three
This week, Lattice and Citadel have continued to explore the dystopian novel ‘1984‘. They have created their interpretation of a letter between the two main characters, predicting what they think the letter will say. They have also used their knowledge of the author and story structure to predict the ending of the story. They are excited to find out if their predictions were correct!
Key Stage Four
This week our Lighthouse pupils have been consolidating their knowledge and understanding of the different types of imagery, and developing the descriptive writing skill of how to craft vivid imagery using sophisticated adjectives, verbs and adverbs. Pupils really focused on elevating their vocabulary choices by utilising a thesaurus to find synonyms for a range of colours, textures, senses, movements, and feelings. We look forward to sharing their descriptive writing pieces with you next week!
Key Stage Five
Spire and Martello have been working on their narrative and descriptive writing skills. We have been learning how to use paragraphing to craft a piece of writing. This week, the pupils have been using a narrative arc to plan an entire story and the content of each paragraph. The learning objective was to write a story with the title ‘Abandoned’. At the end of last week, we looked at an image of a ‘beautiful place’; the pupils described it and later used their ideas to plan a story inspired by this image.
