This week has seen the Tower School scientists work hard to learn about the menstrual cycle, why things adapt, wavelengths and photosynthesis and our place in the Solar System.
Lantern looked at what the Earth is and named all of the nice things about living on the Earth. Well done to Lantern. Well done Lantern. Question of the week ‘if you could take only one thing from Earth with you, what would you take?’
Citadel explored the Earth’s natural resources and how we use them for our own benefit. The class carried out research to discover how easy it is to extract things from the rocks. Well done to Citadel for working so hard. Question of the week ‘should we mine the resources believed to be on other planets?’
Steeple discovered that competition is a natural part of life. The class read an article about the rainforest and how different species compete for the natural resources found there. Well done to Steeple. Question of the week ‘should humans continue to use all of the Earth’s resources until they are all used up?’
Lighthouse worked on the menstrual cycle. The class discussed puberty, what it is and how it changes children into adults. The class then explored the menstrual cycle, what it is, how it works and some of the hormones involved. Well done to Lighthouse for being so mature. Question of the week ‘why do men not menstruate?’
Obelisk set up an experiment to show that plants need sunlight to photosynthesise. The class also looked at the link between photosynthesis and wavelengths. Well done to Obelisk. Question of the week ‘do plants photosynthesis in the dark?’
Fun fact: It would take a sloth one month to travel one mile.
