Home Events & Celebrations World Mental Health Day
Today, The Tower School supported World Mental Health Day. This is an important day to remember the importance of good mental health, and the need to prioritise and invest in good mental health.
This year’s theme is ‘Access to services: Mental health in catastrophes and emergencies’. This highlights the growing importance on prioritising mental wellbeing during times of global instability.
With the rise in technology and social media, we have immediate access to relentless updates online about what is happening in the world – it can be easy to feel overwhelmed and powerless. Below is a resource from the World Mental Health Foundation about managing overwhelm and healthy news consumption.
The pupils have additionally had a focus today on the access to support that they have in their everyday day lives, such as family, friends and school. They have participated with resources during form and lesson times to help scaffold these conversations as well as engaging with SALT mental health resources created by Aisha, our Speech and Language Therapist.
We are proud of all the pupils for the powerful conversations had today and the close-knit community shown at Tower, in supporting each other and each others’ mental health.
