The Tower School weekly update 21.06.2024

This week at The Tower School, pupils have been enjoying the sunshine whilst offsite during outdoor learning, trampolining, swimming and at the allotment project. Our KS4 and KS5 pupils have been working extremely hard undertaking speaking and listening assessments and finalising their art projects towards their BTEC qualifications.

We also had the opportunity for pupils to join the Essex Police Roadshow virtually and more information on this event can be found below. We also celebrated our teaching staff on Wednesday 19th June for ‘National Thank a Teacher Day’ and we hope they enjoyed their chocolate treat!

Parents and pupils have now been informed of the class list allocation for next academic year. The new classes have been carefully considered in consultation with all staff. As our school community continues to grow and develop, the prospective pupil groupings are reflective of the school’s vision and ethos to provide tailored academic pathways, life skills, independent living and preparation for adulthood within a framework of KS3, KS4 or KS5.

From Monday 8th July, pupils and staff will begin a two-week transition, whereby pupils will join their new form classes and follow next year’s timetable. We have introduced this transition to help prepare pupils before returning to school in September and allow them the opportunity to become familiar with their lessons and teaching staff. Your child’s timetable will be shared with you at the end of next week and form teams will support pupils in school.

The Summer 2024 Examination Season is now complete for this academic year as pupils undertook the last external examinations this week. All staff at The Tower School are extremely proud of our pupils, their resilience and the positive attitudes they have displayed throughout May and June. The Summer 2024 Examination Results Day will be available on Thursday 22nd August between 9-12pm at The Tower School. More information will be sent out to pupils before the end of this term.

We would also like to thank all pupils across the school for their maturity in managing staff and room changes associated with the exams, and, importantly, being quiet and respectful during exam times.
