New Signing Club

Last week was the first session of Signing Club! This is a new lunchtime club which will be covering the basics of sign language, including British Sign Language (BSL), Sign Supported English (SSE) and Makaton.

These forms of sign language make excellent tools for communication, and it is a great opportunity to learn about how deaf/hearing impaired individuals use them every day. 

We started off by learning ‘hi’, ‘how are you?’, ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ in BSL, as these can be used in almost every conversation and are easy to remember!

This was followed by the alphabet and numbers in BSL, which students picked up very quickly! Below you will see Lexi and Harry learning how to spell their names in sign.

This week’s sign of the week is: burger, as illustrated above!

Signing Club will be on every Monday lunchtime, in the PFA room.
