Early Morning Walks with Pagoda

This week in Science
This week has seen the Tower School scientists enjoy a wide range of exciting lessons, from exploring body systems to identifying the different states of matter.
Citadel have been working hard researching the worlds ugliest, smelliest, sweetest and oldest plants and animals on the Earth. The students then opted in to present their findings to the class. It was a fun lesson! Well done to Citadel. Scientists of the week go to Citadel for working hard to present your findings. Question of the week: ‘Do we all see animals in the same way?’
Steeple worked hard to complete their test paper. I was very impressed with how well the class handled the test and the maturity that they showed. Well done to Steeple. Scientists of the week go to Steeple for working so hard. Question of the week: ‘Does science explain everything?’
Lighthouse finished off their work on the states of matter. The class worked together to cement their understanding; it was so lovely to see how well they completed the tasks. Well done to Lighthouse. Question of the week: ‘Does water act in the same way at the top of a mountain?’
Obelisk continued their work on the body systems. This week was thermoregulation, where the class looked at how the body copes with extreme temperatures. Well done to Obelisk. Question of the week: ‘Why do we drink hot drinks in the winter?’
Spire and Martello drew the heart and alveoli, labelling them and ensuring that they understood where they are found on the body and how they work. Well done to both classes. Question of the week: ‘Where is the thyroid located?’
Chelmsford Science Festival
Bookings are now open for a host of free, fun and educational events at the Chelmsford Science Festival 2024, organised by ARU in partnership with Chelmsford City Council and Chelmsford For You.
This year’s festival is again sponsored by Teledyne and takes place between Tuesday 22 October and Tuesday 29 October.
The festival will take on the theme of Our World – Planetary Health, and feature a range of events, activities, and engaging talks from experts.
