Home Events & Celebrations Careers Week
During our Careers Week, we had the exciting opportunity to visit Colchester for a careers fair at the Colchester Job Stadium. While there, we explored a wide range of career paths and learned about the various routes our pupils can take to achieve their career goals.
We engaged with representatives from diverse fields, including the NHS, apprenticeship programs, Avon, and Penguin Publishers. Additionally, we witnessed training sessions by the Police and Fire Brigade. The pupils observed officers organizing a crime scene, conducting drills for entering hazardous environments, firearm training, and fire officers practicing how to assess and assist individuals in need, including helping trapped victims. It was an enriching experience, providing pupils with valuable insights into potential career opportunities and the skills needed in various professions.
During Careers Week, we were delighted to welcome St John Ambulance to our school. They provided invaluable insight into emergency first aid and shared what it’s like to be a volunteer emergency responder.
During the visit, we learned essential skills such as performing CPR, assisting someone who is choking, recognizing the signs of a stroke using the FAST method, and applying bandages. Our Pupil’s actively participated, practicing CPR and seamlessly taking turns.
A big thank you to St John Ambulance for visiting us and well done to all the Pupil’s who got involved!
